A Perfect Storm That Makes Fitness a Challenge

During this time of year it can be difficult to stick with your fitness routine. You're busy, you're stressed and there are snacks everywhere working against you and tempting you to get off track.

What Can You Do?

  • Look for routines that can give you the most bang for your buck.
  • Strength Training
    • offers great benefits in an efficient amount of time
    • can keep weight off for good
    • increases muscle mass
    • improves bone health

There are myths around strength training that can keep people from including it in their routine. However, strength training won't make you bulky and it will help burn calories and help you achieve the fitness goals you desire.

It's Important to Keep it Balanced

Strength training can help keep your muscles balanced by working opposite muscle during exercise. For example working your tricep in addition to the bicep helps your body remain well balanced and reduces your chance for injury.

Warming Up

It's important to warm up by walking on the treadmill or doing something like jumping jacks to ensure your muscles warm up. Warming up is important to:

  • Increase temperature
  • Help muscle stay loose
  • Reduce your chance of injury

Rest

Rest is also important so doing strength training 2 or 3 days a week is a good idea.
