Different Outdoor Activities for Spring

[3:09] Finally spring is here and I thought it might be a good opportunity to talk about some different options for getting outside and active in better weather.

Nordic Blading

Using roller blades and ski poles to skate the same way you do on skis is Nordic Blading. It's a great full body exercise that uses your legs, core and upper body to propel yourself along. All you really need to do Nordic Blading are roller blades, ski poles and a helmet. There are other options of skates available that either allow you to mount cross country bindings or , in the case of the Skike, Nordic Blade off-road. Here's a good video demonstration of Nordic Blading:

Tai Chi

[5:29] Another thing you could try outdoors this spring is Tai Chi. Tai Chi has been called meditation in motion. It has some very solid health benefits too. Tai Chi is:
  • Low Impact
  • Improves Strength
  • Improves Flexibility
  • Improves balance
It's even been shown to help with medical conditions like arthritis, heart conditions, high blood pressure, sleep issues and more. All you really need to practice Tai Chi is time, comfortable, loose fitting clothing and that's it. There are a lot of resources available from books, dvds, websites and more. I found a youtube channel devoted to helping you learn Tai Chi. The following two videos are from that channel and can help get you started.

Gardening

[7:48] Gardening may not be one of the first tings you think of when you think about getting outside and getting active but maybe it should be. Gardening is an excellent way to get outside, be active and take advantage of some amazing health benefits. Here are some of the health benefits of gardening I found in an article on-line titled from the Article 6 Unexpected Health Benefits of Gardening Studies from the article point to the following health benefits of gardening:
  • Stress Relief and Self-Esteem
  • Reduced risk of heart disease and stroke
  • Improve Hand Strength and Dexterity
  • Reduces the risk of dementia
  • Improves your Immune System
  • Improves your mood

The Outdoor Products Gama 8.0

Outdoor Products Gama 8.0[11:14] The pack is very versatile and can be used in a variety of sports and applications. The three things that, to me, are most impressive about this pack are: 1.Large Capacity 2.Very Comfortable 3.Versatile The pack is a 33-liter pack and comes with a large main compartment and multiple pockets and pouches to conveniently store what you need on the trail. The pack also comes with a nice pocket for your hydration system. The pack is very comfortable. It has well-padded shoulder straps, waist belt, and comfortable lumbar support It's also an internal frame pack so it feels very solid but light at the same time. There are four bottom D Rings so attaching a sleeping bag is easy and convenient.
Cons:
  • Clip Confusion
  • Too Much Hip Strap
Pros:
  • Great pockets and capacity
  • Comfortable
It's a well-constructed pack with tons of room. It cinches down well making it perfect for more active trips and adventures like . Watch the YouTube Review of the Gama 8.0 For more information or to get a Gama 8.0 pack visit:Outdoor Products

Sassy Girl Exercise Tune-Up

This week we're talking about the chest press and some of the more common mistakes I see people make. The most common mistakes is rounding the shoulders forward and upward. What you want to do to get the most from your chest press is keep your shoulders back and down. You also want to make sure to contract your abs. Also, keep your neck relaxed. A coupled of other tips:
  • Maintain a natural arch in your back
  • Don't lock out your elbows
